Planning and scheduling

The intrinsic value of having a well-prepared and meaningful programme is understood and appreciated by most Contractors and Clients. Yet, from our experience, most of the programmes that we review fail to satisfy this basic criterion.

A programme should be generated with aims in mind. First to assist the site management in the day to day running of the project and second, if all else fails in the defence or preparation of claims. For several reasons many contractors fail to meet the contractual completion date and clearly this has financial implications on at least one of the parties.

It is a fact that many disputes have their origins in programme overruns and, a proper analysis of delay events plays a vital role in dispute resolution. With this in mind, our planning department is structured to deal with time related issues in varying ways.

DGA has a dedicated team of construction planning professionals who have “hands-on” project experience which enables them to provide a comprehensive planning service, throughout the life of a project, including Expert witness services to employers, contractors, sub-contractors, project managers and lawyers. The DGA planning team are proficient in many of the planning software systems currently being utilised in the construction industry. These include Artemis, Microsoft Project, Primavera, Asta Power Project and are also capable of using specialised software for the regeneration of programmes and the comparative analysis of existing programmes.
